Experience
I am a teacher, tutor, and Peace Corps volunteer alum. My studies of mathematics and business include my undergraduate pursuits at the University of Washington in Seattle, over two years of service in Africa ('93-'95) as a science and math instructor, and my non-traditional MBA degree in rural community development at Western Illinois University with the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs. During a second journey to Africa I served as an overseas lay missionary in the Central African Republic for two years. I also worked for a private business as a math tutor for primary and secondary school students, and I taught math for a year in two junior colleges in Tacoma, Washington ('96-'98). I have been in the U.S. since 2001 in Glen Ellyn and Joliet, Illinois. Currently I teach basic skills, geometry, algebra, and math at Joliet Junior College in Illinois. My career as a teacher and tutor is always evolving. My active listening skills and capacity to understand the needs of my students help create success. My interests outside of teaching and tutoring include women's and men's basketball and working out at the gym. I also enjoy reading, watching documentaries, technology, and keeping up with the activities of my two boys.
